How to run a karaoke night with the wheel
Pass the phone around. Whoever holds it spins, and they sing what it lands on. No skipping, unless the group votes to let them off.
Ways to play
- Decade night: set the decade and stick with it all evening. Tap “Deal new songs” whenever the wheel gets stale.
- No repeats: turn on “Remove each song after it’s picked” so every spin is new.
- Holiday party: set the style to Holiday for Christmas classics from Bing Crosby to Mariah Carey.
- Duet roulette: set the style to Duets, then spin a second wheel of names to pick partners.
- Crowd’s choice: open “Use your own list” and have everyone add one song before the first spin.
Picking a good karaoke song
Songs with a big, well-known chorus get the room singing along, which takes pressure off the singer. Mid-tempo songs are easier than fast ones, and a song in a comfortable range beats a show-off song every time.
Where do “Current hits” come from?
Once a week the site refreshes the list from Apple Music’s top songs chart in the US. Songs marked explicit are left out. Brand-new hits don’t always have karaoke versions yet, so check your karaoke app before you commit.
Is the wheel random?
Yes, twice over. Each visit deals a random set of 12 songs from the ones that match your decade and style, and each spin uses your browser’s built-in random number generator, so every song on the wheel has the same chance. Your list stays on your device and isn’t sent anywhere.
